Montgomery County searches for new human resources director
County officials of Montgomery plan to hire a new human resources director on a better salary structure. The new employee will replace the current HR director, Michele Pannell, who replaced the recently retired Michael Moore only three months ago. This was declared by officials in the mayor's office, Mayor Carolyn Bowers and Accounts and Budgets Director Betty Burchett. They said that Pannell's probation period will not be extended and will be replaced because, despite 20 years of experience, she did not have the required background to carry the responsibility "to the next level." The budget committee members have decided to pay $70,000 for the new director instead of the current $50,000 salary. The new appointee will directly report to Mayor Bowers.
