  • Ensuring that all work complies with regulatory and legal requirements
  • Supervising all HR activities for recruitment, selection, and training

A HR Supervisor requires many specific skills. Firstly, this person must have knowledge of the effective principles and practices regarding supervision of employees and employee relations. He/she must have a good familiarity with a wide range of benefit programs and human resources rules. An understanding of payroll, benefits, and position systems, recruitment and selection administration is also necessary for most jobs.

Most importantly, an HR supervisor must be able to train and supervise the work of others and work effectively as part of a group or team. He/she must be able to maintain effective working relationships with employees and provide excellent customer service. An HR supervisor must be able to deal with sensitive and confidential matters with the utmost discretion. He/she must be an independent worker, who can multi-task and perform complex technical work. He/she must know how to research material needed for reports and prepare accurate statistical and written reports.
