We are looking for a HR Advisor to join our ambitious HR team!

We are a medium-sized, independent law firm based in Reading. We are particularly well known for our friendly and supportive culture, which has been a core part of our philosophy since we were founded over 30 years ago. We are looking for a HR Advisor to join our ambitious HR team on a 12-month fixed term basis, to cover a period of maternity leave.

As our HR Advisor, you will take responsibility for many of the operational aspects of our HR service, across the whole employee life cycle provided to our firm of approximately 120 people. Day to day that could involve recruitment, performance, employee relations, reward, learning & development and much more. As we are constantly evolving and developing better ways of working and supporting our people – so that they can best support our clients – you’ll also be involved in many HR projects.

Our People system is one of our focuses this year, so you’ll have a large role in continuing the roll-out of our new modules – developing new HR workflows and much more. Naturally, it’ll be a big advantage if you already have experience with managing HR systems.

This role is being offered on a fixed-term basis, but be sure to know there is huge potential for you to get involved in lots of development opportunities and given you’ll be joining a small HR team, your sphere of influence will be large when it comes to sharing your knowledge and inputting ideas.

Here’s a few things we are looking for in your application:

CIPD Level 5 or equivalent HR qualification and a solid working knowledge of English employment law

Experience of managing ER issues such as capability, absence management, flexible working requests etc.

The ability to build rapport with stakeholders in a skilled/knowledge based environment

Law firm experience would be preferable, but is not essential. This could be your perfect chance if you are looking to move into the Professional Services sector!
