The Global Legal team is responsible for administering Hilton's legal activities to ensure maximum protection while engaging in global business and ensuring compliance with the company's legal obligations.

What will I be doing?

The Counsel for Compensation & Benefits will provide counsel and strategic legal advice on compensation and benefits issues, policies, and programs. You will provide guidance to corporate and hotel Human Resources professionals and management personnel both in the U.S. and international locations.

This Team Member will handle a variety of matters, which may include:

Provide day-to-day advice and counsel to HR and the business on a broad range of compensation and benefits/ERISA-related issues, policies, and programs

Provide legal guidance on a wide array of benefits matters, including governance, administration and implementation of health and welfare plans and programs, qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, and other fringe benefits

Review benefits/ERISA-related provisions in vendor agreements and contracts

Review and provide guidance on compensation programs, policies, and plans, including bonus plans, sales plans, severance plans, and other compensation arrangements

Provide legal guidance and review on policies, programs, and practices related to various leave-related issues, including PTO, sick leave, parental leave, and other state and local leave requirements

Monitor and analyze new developments in the field of compensation and benefits law and provide direction to the organization on new requirements and compliance needs

Manage sensitive matters with maturity, diplomacy, and integrity

Detailed understanding of key legal concepts and can seamlessly relay them to business partners

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school

At least five years of experience as an attorney in compensation and benefits matters

Active member of a U.S. State Bar and be able to meet the eligibility requirements for in-house practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Experience interacting with business partners and developing trust

It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

Significant experience advising on health and welfare plan-related issues

Prior in-house experience

Familiarity with the hospitality industry

Familiarity with union-related health and welfare issues
