invites applications for an
Associate Director of Learning and Development
to join their team. Reporting to the Director of the Office of Organizational Learning and Development with minimal supervision, this position has the autonomy, authority and expectation to independently create/design, promote, implement, and manage a variety of professional development and training programs for all university employees, based on employee needs and organizational priorities. Program topics will include, but are not limited to: creating diverse and inclusive work environments and learning spaces; effective teaching and assessment practices, leadership and management; student success; developmental and special interest sessions; and career growth.
Other responsibilities include:
Assesses critical training and development needs for university employees by collaborating with employee leadership teams across campus and creating employee feedback systems
With Director, sets strategic and programmatic priorities for professional development and training
Works independently to oversee the creation, delivery and assessment of programs
Co-creates and designs, with Director, programs on leadership and management development, aligning with university strategic priorities and in consultation with other units on campus
Works with University leaders to ensure that new development opportunities focus on the critical knowledge, skills and abilities needed for UM employees and to support strategic priorities set by the UM administration
Identifies appropriate training and development professionals needed to meet additional training needs
Supports assessment efforts of programs and OOLD’s offerings
Communicates effectively with different campus constituencies using innovative and customized approaches to promote professional development opportunities
Serves as a campus resource on employee professional development and leads in building collaborations with units and employee groups across campus
Supervises OOLD student worker(s)

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Montana University System Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program
Salary for this position is $55,000 - $60,000 commensurate with qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or five (5) years of experience in teaching and/or providing training programs or courses
Prior experience creating, administering, and managing training and developmental programs and courses
Experience developing and providing in-person training or education programs to effectively meet stated or expected outcomes
Knowledge of and ability to apply adult learning theory and techniques
Demonstrated professional communication skills including expert written and oral communication skills as well as grammar and composition
Ability to determine assessment methods for trainings offered with the ability to analyze data, provide appropriate reports and use findings to make program changes
Ability to problem solve, exercise sound judgment and maintain a professional, personable demeanor
Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines while providing close attention to detail.
Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and create and maintain effective relationships with all employee types across campus and internal and external organizations and collaborators.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Competent use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) as well as virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant field and leadership experience in a higher education setting
About the Office of Organizational Learning
The Office of Organizational Learning and Development supports the professional and personal growth of UM employees by offering learning opportunities in collegial, community-based settings. The office assesses the needs of UM employees, identifies mechanisms for addressing those needs, and ensures effective delivery of development and training opportunities.
The Associate Director will report to the Director of OOLD, who reports to the Office of the Provost.
