A key member of the integrated Legal Talent Team, the Talent Development Specialist will play a central role in collaborating with and supporting the team in the areas of lawyer training, development and career planning initiatives to ensure the most effective orientation, integration, engagement and retention of lawyers firm-wide. The Talent Development Specialist will work closely with the Senior Manager of Talent Development and Senior Director of Talent Development to implement practice area and firm-wide training curricula, manage the firm’s Mentoring Program, plan associate and practice group meetings, and administer various firm processes, including the associate and counsel evaluation processes and the annual Individual Development Plan process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Talent Development
Work with the Talent Development team to implement practice area and firm-wide training curricula, including driving program planning, collaborating with internal and external faculty, analyzing feedback, and recommending program enhancements
Work with the Senior Manager of Talent Development to manage CLE compliance for internal and client-facing CLE programs and complete required New York Accredited Provider reporting
Collaborate with Legal Talent team members and other firm business operations leaders on lawyer orientation, integration and departures to enhance processes and materials and ensure smooth transitions
Work with the Senior Manager of Talent Development to manage the firm’s Mentoring Program
Collaborate with relevant planning committees to develop agendas and programming for monthly associate and quarterly practice group meetings
Work with the Senior Manager of Talent Development to administer the firm’s associate and counsel evaluation processes, including managing logistical planning for evaluation meetings and serving as liaison to Practice Group Leaders, Pre-Directorship Review Committee, and Associate Review Teams
Work with the Senior Director of Talent Development and Associate Development Directors to administer the firm’s Individual Development Plan process
Assist the Senior Director of Talent Development and Flexible Work Mentors with the administration of the firm’s Flexible Work Program
Assist the Legal Talent team members with administration of industry surveys
Work on special department or firm projects as needed
Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s Degree
3 years of experience in law firm, law school, or professional services firm supporting recruiting and/or professional development
Detail and action-oriented with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
Strong ownership drive, proactive and deadline driven
Strong verbal and written presentation skills
Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment
Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively across all levels
Knowledge and experience with NY CLE Accredited Provider requirements, preferred
Highly Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CLE tracking software and database management systems
