SUMMARY
Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is currently seeking a qualified BSNC shareholder or BSNC descendant of a shareholder for a Communications/Benefits Coordinator for the Anchorage office. Under the direction of the department leads and in accordance with the guidelines, and policies of the company and local, state and federal laws, this position performs duties as assigned similar to administrative and customer service, research, rendering reports, compiling information, editing, proof reading, and creating work products. Must be flexible and available to perform other duties in support of various programs, staff and managers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Under supervision of Corporate Communications Director and Sr. Benefits Manager, assist with content special projects, shareholder relations, benefits communications, creation and improvement of BSNC-related marketing materials, website and social networking media content.
Copy, edit, proofread and revise as needed.
Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operational and administrative functions as required.
Establish and track data for shareholder-related projects, communications project schedules and benefits benchmarks.
Foster BSNC’s relationships with shareholders, business associates, media and interested members of the public.
Assist with the planning, creation and attendance of BSNC-related engagements and events.
Provide office support functions including word processing, filing, copying, composing a variety of business documents, reception, gathering and compiling data, and balancing and coordinating a workload for multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
Provide lead and/or back up support to include greeting visitors and shareholders in person or by telephone and to connect those with the appropriate staff person or services that will best serve their needs in a friendly, professional manner.
Assist department with special projects including distribution of information, data entry, filing, and research.
Maintain confidentiality of information.
Use a computer, related software, transcribing equipment, and other standard office equipment.
Handle misc. requirements as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
Applicant must be a shareholder or shareholder descendant.
Current college student or college graduate.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook).
Utilize proper telephone etiquette.
Excellent communication skills including correct grammar and spelling.
Knowledge of office machines including fax, postage meter, copier, calculator, computer work-stations, telephone system, and voicemail systems.
Ability to meet and deal with the public and staff in a pleasant and courteous manner.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to follow direction and attention to detail.
Clearly written and spoken English is required.
Must have positive, friendly attitude and be a team player.
Ability to meet deadlines.

This position requires the ability to operate conventional office equipment such as laptop or desktop computers, fax, phone, copiers, printers, and binding machines. Requires ability to see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Essential and marginal functions may require frequent sitting, walking or occasional standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, of items weighing as much at 40 pounds; near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
