We are seeking a Vice President of Talent Acquisition who will lead the design and execution of 2U’s Global Talent Acquisition strategy and initiatives to amplify the company’s strategic direction, growth, and mission. The VP will be trusted to balance ownership for driving strategic partnerships and alignment with executive business leaders while coaching and guiding a global team. They will work with their leadership team to refine talent attraction strategies for key talent pools while also innovating on the processes, systems, tools and culture that will create a long-term candidate pipeline. The VP reports directly to the Chief People Officer and will partner closely with the senior People leadership team to support evolving business needs and outcomes.
A successful candidate for this role will be an experienced, agile, results-oriented, collaborative leader who is excited to develop their team and see the impact of their work on our organization. This role is located in our HQ office in Lanham, MD.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Growing Leaders and Staff Management
Elevate, mentor, develop and retain global Recruiting leadership team (RLT) and their teams; delegate authority to expand leadership skills and day to day management
Manage through the identification of development opportunities, guidance around recruiting strategy, and ensuring effective business partner relationships globally
Provide resources to support leadership development and coaching; anticipate future leadership needs to manage expected growth
Contribute as thought partner to senior People leadership team and act as department champion across broader People Team
Business Partnership and Recruiting Strategy
Serve as thought leader, advisor, coach and sounding board on TA strategy, initiatives, and issues to key stakeholders
Identify key strategic opportunities for RLT to leverage existing recruiting practices
Build relationships and partner with global executive leaders and RLT to develop short and long term priorities and hiring plans that align to the overall 2U strategic goals, in addition to overseeing development of employee referral, internship, college/university relations and other initiatives and programs based on business needs
Anticipates impact of 2U’s strategic objectives and priorities and provides guidance to global TA function
Manage job approval process and partner with CFO and global executive leaders on hiring priorities
Consistently work to innovate and expand the caliber of the global recruiting function by identifying, designing and leading best-in-class recruiting strategies, processes and systems in partnership with RLT; escalate the TA function to be viewed by leaders as true business partners
Partner with VP DEI, internal DEI groups, business leaders, and RLT to cultivate recruiting and hiring strategies and practices to further 2U’s commitment to inclusivity and diverse representation in the workforce
Oversee recruiting spend across the TA team and set global budget with a thorough understanding of anticipated costs and needs
Partner with the Internal Brand team to ensure the EVP, mission, and culture of 2U is showcased and elevated through candidate experience and across channels that align with 2U’s objectives and strategies
Systems and Data Support
Continually optimize metrics and Applicant Tracking System to create a more efficient and effective hiring process; Identify opportunities to create efficiencies across all recruiting organizations when possible
Drive the developing hiring dashboards with RLT to effectively communicate insights to hiring managers and senior leaders
Create, maintain, and communicate recruiting capacity plan to identify gaps, needs and predictions on hiring volume
Establish a data-oriented recruiting approach that leverages analytics and industry benchmarks to provide insights, decision support and drive accountability; establish KPI’s to measure recruiter performance, quality candidate experiences and quality of hires
Partner with the HRIS and Talent Analytics functions to find and implement opportunities for automation within recruiting workflow practices
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
14 years experience in Talent Acquisition; understanding of global recruiting dynamics, policies and business dynamics a plus
7 years experience in a Talent Acquisition leadership role leading high-performing teams; demonstrated success as TA leader leading managers and mentoring a team in an organization of comparable scale and complexity
Experience developing and executing short, mid, and long-term, data-driven strategies that yield top talent in competitive markets
Experience implementing DE&I recruiting best practices.
Ability to gain confidence and build trust with team, executives and other internal/external stakeholders
Executive presence in communicating and working effectively with all levels of an organization including the CEO and the executive team
Ability to prioritize, tackle diverse issues, juggle multiple high priorities in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience administering in house or 3rd party applicant tracking system; familiarity with Greenhouse a plus
Experience with Microsoft office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Suite applications

Confirmed ability to attract and retain outstanding talent and assemble and empower high performing teams.
Proven success hiring in both high volume environments as well as in niche searches
