Our open-pit mine and concentrator in Voisey's Bay - **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.'s only fly-in/fly-out operation in Canada - produces nickel-cobalt-copper concentrate and copper concentrate. An underground expansion will see a transition to a leading edge underground mine extending the life of the mine until 2034. Our state-of the-art facility in Long Harbour is the first nickel processing plant in the world to use hydrometallurgy technology to produce Plating RoundsTM from hard rock (sulphide) concentrate, with low carbon footprint compared to traditional smelter technology. Our offices in St. John's and Goose Bay provide support to the Newfoundland and Labrador Operations. The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Learning & Development Superintendent to join our North Atlantic Learning & Development Team. This is a permanent position based at our Long Harbour Operations in Long Harbour, NL. As a Learning & Development Superintendent you will support the Manager of Learning & Development in achieving established goals and objectives through continuous improvement. This role supports the alignment and implementation of both regional and local Learning and Development objectives at the site level in the Long Harbour Operations. You'll work collaboratively with other Managers, Superintendents, and Supervisors within cross functional areas of the operation. The L&D Superintendent effectively coordinates approved training plans through the management of their team and other resources, in turn meeting the current and future training needs of the business. You will also gain a deeper understanding of our company and our sustainable approach to mining and processing with exposure to other **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. operations in Canada and our global headquarters in Brazil. In this position, you will carry out the following duties: t Manage Long Harbour L&D Team and training function; t Implement North Atlantic L&D improvement work & new processes in Long Harbour L&D team t Ensure the site meets all L&D requirements with regards to legislated regulations, company policies, and standards; t Promote and supervise compliance with L&D services provided; t Provide advice and mentorship to line management on given L&D related issues; t Source, acquire, and coordinate external trainers to deliver specialized training which the operational trainers are unable to deliver; t Participate on government and community committees encouraging the skills development of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador to meet our industry's human resource needs; t Actively drive training responsibility through line management and employees while supervising, auditing, providing expertise, and advice; t Collaboratively work with the Production Area and Personnel Star point office to ensure Processing Plant Technicians are trained as per the Training Management System; t Follow up with departmental managers and superintendents on a regular basis to determine if their training needs are met and develop and implement training plans to continue meeting their requirements; t Monitor departmental training budgets. Be responsible for input to budget preparation, monitoring the budget, and making decisions on the appropriateness of upcoming projects and improvements; t Review local training programs and work with North Atlantic Development Team for content updates and standardization with North Atlantic content to ensure training content is current and follows a consistent format and structure. Ensure training reports and requests for information are completed for compliance to government regulations and corporate standards. About You t Education: ttt Community College or Post-Secondary Diploma in relevant field tt An adult learning or teaching certification is considered an asset. ttt Experience: ttt 5 to 7 years of proven experience in a similar subject area. ttt Understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS) t Understanding of surface processing operations. t Knowledge of Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Regulations for Mining Plants and appropriate codes, acts and regulations. t Ability to multitask and work with changing/conflicting priorities. t Capable of prioritizing and planning work activities to meet the business requirements. t Able to tackle problems and provide solutions based on investigation and analysis. t Advanced digital literacy skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite. t Able to work independently, as an active team leader and team member. t Positive relationship management, consulting and influencing skills.
