The Opportunity - Payroll & Benefits Specialist

As a Payroll & Benefits Specialist, you will contribute to providing exceptional employee experiences everyday by delivering end to end payroll and benefits support to FreshBookers. Reporting directly to the Global Payroll Manager, our ideal candidate will prepare, process and reconcile payroll and benefits to support our international employee base.
What You'll Do as a Payroll & Benefits Specialist
Run the full payroll support throughout the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to status changes and offboarding,
Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements
Continuously monitor and respond to employee payroll or benefit inquiries from the talent operations support inbox
Compile data from multiple payroll sources
Work closely with our payroll provider to quickly troubleshoot issues, including amending ROEs, special pay runs, and other time sensitive transactions
Support internal stakeholders and team members (e.g. HR, Finance, IT)
Prepare and issue ROEs and respond to CRA inquiries in a timely manner
Prepare payroll and benefits reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports)
Reconcile payroll accounts and propose corrections when necessary
Prepare year-end reporting including T4s,W-2’s and T2200
Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements as well as internal controls
Provide support for internal and external audits
Contribute to initiatives and projects as assigned
What You'll Bring to the Role
5 years of experience supporting Canada and US Payroll and exposure to international payroll
Experienced and proficient with Ceridian Dayforce payroll system and implementing new payroll
Experience with Macs, Excel, G Suite, Bamboo HR, Greenhouse Recruiting,,,
Experience with T4s, W2’s and other tax-related filing/tax amendment corrections
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Knowledge of US and Canada tax laws and compliance.
General payroll knowledge in Europe, UK and Mexico to administer through an EOR/PEO
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal
Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strongly motivated to find solutions
A preference for working in a highly collaborative environment
You'll Stand Out If You Bring Experience In
PCP or working towards certification is an asset
Familiarity with applicable provincial and federal rules and laws
Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines and time-sensitive requests
High level of integrity and maturity with ability to work with confidential information
