SUMMARY
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is currently seeking a qualified Payroll Specialist II for our Accounting/Payroll Department in Anchorage, AK. The position of Payroll Specialist II reports to the Payroll Manager. The Function of the Payroll Specialist II includes prepare, process and reconciling complex payrolls for employees in multiple states and multiple companies. The Payroll Specialist II will also be responsible for periodic and quarterly tax payments and filings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for full payroll process of multi-state employee including auditing and processing incoming payroll data as well as assisting departments with applicable forms and processes
Calculation of exemption items such as bonus, garnishments and terminations
Responsible for compiling, coping and insuring all filing and payroll reports are file accurately and timely
Review and updates employee leave records
Accurate review, setup and processing of court ordered involuntary deductions including responding to or communicating with agencies regarding orders
Responsible for compiling, entering, scanning and emailing all Davis Bacon certified reports for the companies they are assigned
Perform tasks to assist in establish and maintain employee/payroll records
Responsible for periodic and quarterly tax payments and filings to the government agencies for the companies they are assigned
Assist in training and mentoring new Technicians
Maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population
Other related duties as required and assigned within the Payroll Department.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
High school diploma or GED High school diploma or equivalent.
One to two years of progressively complex Payroll processing required.
Comprehensive knowledge of how payroll taxes and deductions are computed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to meet weekly deadlines.
Ability to balance multiple competing priorities under deadlines.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Good interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment.
Dependable and punctual.
Must be able to operate office machines, including a computer, copier, fax and 10-key by touch as well as make arithmetic calculations.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
Managing one's own time and coordinating time with others.
The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
Using computers and computer system software, enter data, or process information.
Preferred
Previous experience processing payroll in a multi company environment.
CostPoint experience.
Deltek Time & Expense experience.

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
