Summary :
The Sr Specialist Training is responsible for identifying the training needs of Tyson’s Team Members in Prepared Foods with a focus on a region which includes Omaha, Council Bluff, St. Joseph, MO/Kansas City KC & Concordia facilities. The Sr Specialist Training oversees, coordinates, and executes training, serving as the primary point of contact for all technical skills training, new hire on-boarding, and frontline leader training needs (technical and soft skills). This person helps create, facilitate, and implement engaging training and materials, including facilitator guides, participant guides, job aids, computer-based training/learning options, and training videos. The Sr Specialist Training facilitates in person and virtual training sessions, in addition to conducting classroom seminars, team building activities, and train-the-trainer sessions.
Strong organizational and communications skills are essential for this role, as well as acute attention to detail, initiative, and ability to work well independently with little supervision. This position requires high levels of collaboration with cross-functional partners, such as Safety, FSQA, CI, Human Resources, Talent & Culture CoE, and Operations Leadership teams. The Sr Specialist Training compiles and maintains a variety of reports on individual and organizational developmental activities, including tracking progress of new hires (Hourly & Exempt), turnover rates, and training effectiveness measures.
Other duties include:
Partnering with the Prepared Foods Training Team (Technical & Soft Skills) to improve training processes, standardization, and impact.
B uilding strong partnerships with community colleges to assist with Tyson’s Upward Academy programs as the primary administrator in the plant.
Working with Plant Retention Committees to define, develop, and provide training that retains our Team Members.
Maintaining standard work instructions library in collaboration with the Continuous Improvement team.
Supporting the company Interpreter program.
Learning new training, tools, techniques, including certifications, as needed / requested.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree preferred
3-5 years of related experience in: HR, organizational development, learning and development
Previous plant/manufacturing experience preferred
Highly organized and focused
Excellent project management and execution skills, with strong ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
Strong facilitation skills, ability to engage learners, use various techniques for knowledge and skill building, able to translate concepts to actions in context of learners’ day to day work
Intermediate skills in PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Alchemy Systems
Strong orientation toward working collaboratively, with equal comfort working independently
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills – including verbal, written and listening skills; ability to present effectively (internally and externally); demonstrated candor, specifically listening with an open mind, having courage to speak up and give feedback, and acknowledging mistakes/failures
Demonstrated creativity (continuous improvement mindset, willing to take appropriate risks and fail forward, develop ideas and take action to implement)
Seeks out and finds value in diverse perspectives and leverage cognitive diversity to ensure the best ideas are identified
Sound judgment (ability to see the implications of various actions and view things from multiple global perspectives)
Travel: 50% travel per year
1st shift, with capability to work off shifts when needed
