Team description:
The Corporate Communications team manages our company brand, reputation and messages that flow to our employees and the outside world. Our team feels passionate about building our special employee culture and protecting the strong standing our company has with external audiences. Our goal is to provide interns with a broad and challenging experience that will help them grow and expose them to new opportunities.
General description:
As a communications intern, you will be an integral part of the Corporate Communications team, working on challenging projects and helping to create compelling content that keeps audiences informed and engaged. You’ll have the opportunity to lead and participate in projects and initiatives primarily related to internal/employee communications, with the potential to support other Corporate Communications projects and initiatives related to social media, public relations, **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.com, company events, etc.
Responsibilities:
Develop and/or implement strategic communications plans
Manage internal communications channels (intranet, newsletters, Yammer, etc.) and editorial calendars
Find, research and write stories about our company, our employees and our culture for our global company intranet and other communications channels
Proofread and edit various internal communications for spelling, grammar, consistency with our brand, editorial style and usage guides, and best practices for communication
Maintain and update communications materials
Collaborate and lead within small-to-midsize projects and initiatives within the broader Corporate Communications team
Essential functions:
Should have the ability to be creative and journalistic
Should be comfortable working with digital platforms (SharePoint, etc.)
Should be comfortable leading meetings and communicating with groups of people
Must be able to analyze situations and audiences and use independent judgment
Must be able to prioritize work and keep detailed, accurate and confidential information and records
What You Need
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field
Must have strong writing and editing skills (samples of your writing will be requested); knowledge of AP Style is a plus
• Currently working on completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field or equivalent; we will only consider students who plan be enrolled in a degree-seeking program after the summer
• Cumulative 3.0 GPA or above; must be the case at the date of hire and also will be verified during background check in the spring
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
• Ability to exercise independent judgment
• Proficient on basic computer programs: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Proven leadership and business acumen skills
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills
