Overview: The Director – Compensation & Benefits will oversee all compensation and benefits for the Madewell corporate and field organization creating an enterprise wide salary and benefits program which allow the company to attract and retain the best and brightest talent inthe industry.
Reports to: SVP Human Resources
Responsibilities:
Compensation
* In partnership with our SVP HR build a competitive & practical strategy for rewards being mindful of having a consistent approach while incorporating regional needs
* In collaboration with the Generalists and Recruiting teams, lead efforts to create our salary structure across all job families via broad-banding to ensure we have both consistency and flexibility
* Ensure our pay is competitive via ongoing benchmarking
* Oversee industry compensation / other surveys
* Ensure we are following a “best in class” approach to compensation and are relevant in the markets in which we operate given our size and trajectory
* Ensure our compensation is competitive as we open new markets and hire teams locally
* Collaborate with generalist team during the year-end review process – ensure merit and bonus guidelines are followed and implemented. Monitor and review calculations and creation of compensation statements
* Coordinate meetings and communications with the Company’s Compensation Committee on a quarterly basis and ensure calendar of events are finalized and on track
* Oversee all aspects of executive compensation in partnership with the SP HR and partner with Finance leaders on our Equity program design, development and communication
Benefits
* Manage relationship with our global benefit vendor and cadence of short and longer term priorities
* Oversee administration for all company benefit plans (Medical, Dental, LTD, STD, AD&D, Life and 401k and all voluntary benefits)
* Continue to evaluate current benefit programs, identify areas of improvement and make recommendations
* Own Open Enrollment in conjunction with the team
* Ensure global benefit communications are relevant and in conjunction with our communication approaches
* Coordinate company benefit programs, FMLA, Worker’s Compensation
* Ensure plans and proposals meet current federal, state and city regulations by subscribing to and maintaining an expert knowledge level about changes or revisions to relevant statutes
* Oversee administration and relationship with our 401K provider; review plan design opportunities and continue to monitor vendor and plan performance
* Participate in quarterly 401K committee meetings.
Qualifications:
* Minimum 10+ years leading multiple facets of compensation and benefits
* Minimum 5 years in compensation-specific role
* Experience in developing and implementing compensation and executive incentive programs globally
* Bachelor’s degree. Preferred MBA / related master’s degree
* Retail experience highly preferred. Working in large complex organizations
* Ability and passion in building versus maintaining
* Highly collaborative and team-oriented; ability to truly be selfless and do what’s right for the business
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface comfortably at all levels both internally and externally (encompasses verbal, written, listening)
* Able to establish a high level of trust and credibility in the organization.
* Comfortable with ambiguity
