Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for various day-to-day operational activities of Human Resources department. Primary duties include assisting with compensation and classification function such as participation in salary surveys, data gathering and other special projects in the area of compensation, personnel and positions related file maintenance, preparing various reports including reports of personnel changes, providing administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, and HRIS entry.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist with data gathering in different areas involving compensation, such as conducting salary and market analysis, calculating salary and compensation modeling scenarios, salary survey participation, maintenance of positions and jobs related data in SAP, systems testing in compensation and salary increase process modules of SAP, data gathering for special projects related to compensation.
Assist with the classification and reclassification process of all staff positions at the University. This includes preparing classification/reclassification document, researching related internal and external positions, reviewing position compensation internal equity and market value, and updating position information in SAP.
Ensure proper documentation is maintained in personnel files, including maintaining documentation organization for new hires, performance and discipline related documentation, maintaining files of current and separated employees, auditing and maintaining I9 compliance, preparing records for CD's, archiving, and destruction.
Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions of routine nature, provide information to employees about policies, wages etc. and serve as a backup in responding to requests from external agencies for wage and salary data, employment verifications, etc.
Assist with preparing various reports related to compensation, including personnel changes reports for the Board of Regents meetings, reports requested by external agencies such as the Department of Labor, BLS, the State of KY, etc.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years' related experience preferably with courses related to human resources or business administration, or data analysis.
Basic understanding of employment equity regulations, HR functions and best practices, excellent written and verbal communication skills, high computer literacy with capability in email, MS Office, Excel, and related business and communication tools, familiarity with HRIS system and able and willing to learn SAP, excellent organizational and time management skills, meticulous attention to detail.
