The Opportunity - Total Rewards Senior Director
Reporting into the Chief People Officer, you will be responsible for demonstrating and delivering thought leadership on the Total Rewards methodologies and approaches; leading the implementation of new projects and initiatives.
In this role as the Senior Director of Global Total Rewards, you will impact the organization by demonstrating thought leadership on the development of total rewards methodologies and approaches, implementing current and new initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of programs aligned with business objectives. You will have the unique opportunity to work hands-on while simultaneously providing direction in program development to a fast-growing and expanding organization. You’ll partner with the HR, Finance, and Legal teams, leaders within Freshbooks and external partners to ensure compensation, health, welfare, retirement and leave strategies are aligned with the organization’s compensation/benefits philosophies and market competitiveness.
As an integral part of People Team and a subject matter expert, you will provide hands-on support in creating reward programs that deliver scalable solutions that enable global competitive compensation, benefits and other rewards to all FreshBookers.
This is a remote role based in North America.
What You'll Do as a Total Rewards Senior Director
Lead the overall compensation philosophy and compensation structure for the organizarion, in close partnership with HR, leadership teams and finance. Ensure ongoing effectiveness of the structure given labor market changes. Participate in and analyze local and industry surveys, and make recommendations based on trends, practices and company philosophy, cost, etc.
Work with an external consultant to the Compensation Committee on the design and implementation of Board of Director and executive compensation programs. Participate in meetings of the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.
Develop strategy and talking points related to BOD and executive compensation matters.
Develop, implement, communicate and administer Total Rewards strategies, including compensation, equity, health and wellness, retirement, mobility, engagement and other work experience programs that are cost effective and consistent with labor market trends and organizational objectives.
Partner closely with brokers and other third party administrators to ensure effective delivery of all pay, benefits, equity programs on an ongoing global basis. Work closely with brokers to benchmark existing benefits with other industry organizations and make recommendations based on trends, practices, company philosophy, cost, etc
Model various total rewards (incentive, equity, rewards, merit, variable pay, etc.) programs and ensure alignment with culture, strategy, operational initiatives, compensation and performance management philosophies.
Lead all annual compensation and benefit reviews and enrollment processes.
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies for total rewards program.
Hire, supervise, and mentor small team across Total Rewards functions: compensation, benefits, and payroll.
Oversee equity administration.
Develop and analyze related metrics and dashboards, and leverage data to draw insights and make solid recommendations and decisions.
Support IPO and M&A activity as required.

What You'll Bring to the Role
Bachelors degree in Business, Human resources, Finance or equivalent professions experience. Masters and CCP certification a plus.
15 years of progressive HR experience in a Compensation, HRBP, Benefits, and/or HR Operations capacity with 8 years of experience managing Global Total Rewards programs and strategy.
Proven experience of working closely with Board of Directors Compensation Committee on all matters related to BOD and Executive Compensation in a public company, including overall competitive compensation positioning, short and long-term incentive design, equity management, tax compliance, SEC regulations, Executive agreement design and compliance (409A/280g). Demonstrated ability to prepare and present materials in a clear and concise manner providing experiential value.
Excellent business acumen, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
Ability to manage projects and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
Recommend creative and collaborative solutions for resolving compensation related issues.
Systems expertise (HRIS/Payroll Platforms)
Advanced reporting and data expertise (Excel, Google Sheets)
Ability to problem solve, analyze data to uncover meaningful insights and make recommendations for action.
Hands on experience as well as strategic thought leader.
