AARP's Human Resources Group is seeking an Organizational Development Director to
provide leadership and focus to enterprise, business unit, and HR change efforts to attain desired results and outcomes. The Director collaborates with leaders across functions to identify organizational needs/challenges and creates solutions with a data-driven focus that set priorities for improvements aligned to the strategic vision. The Director researches, learns, and leverages advanced knowledge of full life-cycle organization development (OD) processes and best practices to influence and drive projects and programs that enhance organizational performance, effectiveness, workforce engagement/experience, and culture. This role partners with HR leaders to bring new insights, innovations, and connections (internal and external) that contribute to people strategy development and support AARP initiatives - especially when several business entities need to collaborate to accomplish shared goals.
Responsibilities
Lead and drive OD-related projects and programs (e.g., organization development, change management, organization design, employee engagement, talent management) using advanced knowledge of full life-cycle OD processes and best practices to enhance organizational performance, effectiveness, workforce engagement/experience, and culture.
Collaborate with HR leaders to design and deliver organizational programs and strategies in support of critical workforce planning or organizational development initiatives that meet ongoing and future business needs.
Consult with HR Leadership and HR colleagues on developing options for organizing and aligning strategy, capabilities, work and people through structure, roles, processes, governance practices and culture to optimize human capital and business performance.
Identify trends and leverage complex data from various sources (i.e., change metrics, analytic tools, surveys, questionnaires, document review, observations, and stakeholder interviews) to understand gaps, needs, and risks for teams; communicate status updates to leadership based on data; verify the accuracy of complex data and analyses for other team members.
Write clear and detailed documentation for multiple highly complex or difficult projects; review technical documentation.
Facilitate engagements to ensure meetings, gatherings, and initiatives reach desired outcomes.
Contribute to a culture of transparency and trust by meeting commitments and appropriately sharing and clarifying information to guide solutions and actions across functions; collaborate and leverage cross functional relationships with senior leadership, external vendors, and partners to accomplish goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; Master's degree preferred.
Must have at least 8 years' experience leading and integrating organization design/workforce planning function/programs across complex organizations.
Must be competent in collecting, analyzing and presenting data to predict workforce challenges and solutions.
Must have a strong consultancy background and experience presenting informed recommendations to senior leaders.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise
Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
