Job Summary
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced trainer to work in a leading Russell Group university. Working in a proactive POD team, you will design, deliver, and evaluate a mix of programmes to staff throughout the University. To apply for this role, it is essential you have experience of both the design and delivery of training programmes.
Main Duties
Assisting with design of University-wide learning and development interventions.
Designing interventions such as team-building events.
Delivering the POD core suite of programmes, both in-person and on-line.
Promoting the use of on-line learning.
Assisting with evaluation of the POD programme.
Coaching colleagues on a 1-1 and group basis.
Person Specification
The POD trainer will have the following combined experience and personal qualities:
Qualifications
A degree or equivalent
A relevant professional qualification in training e.g., PG Cert, C&G trainer or CIPD training element.
Ideally an ILM certificate or diploma in management at level 3.
Ideally, coaching accreditation by a recognised body e.g., ILM7
Ideally qualifications in one or two psychometric instruments e.g., MBTI
Essential
Experienced trainer who can deliver a wide range of different leadership, management, and interpersonal interventions.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including political astuteness, tact, and diplomacy.
A relevant training qualification or equivalent.
An understanding of the whole learning and development cycle.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Experience of coaching, preferably qualified.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
A high degree of initiative, personal judgement, resourcefulness, resilience, flexibility, and a self-motivating approach.
Enthusiasm and willingness to meet challenging and sometimes competing demands.
Desirable
CIPD member or equivalent professional body.
Qualified to BPS Test User: Occupational, Personality, MBTI practitioner.
Skills and Experience
Experienced trainer who can deliver a wide range of different interventions both in-person and on-line.
Basic understanding of the whole learning and development cycle, including needs analysis and evaluation.
Able to get the detail right, ensuring that all interventions are delivered to the highest standard, working closely with the POD administration team.
Coaching skills, with an ability to work at middle / senior management levels across academic related and academic staff.
Excellent writing and presentation skills.
Experience of working in a team of L&D/OD professionals, knowing how best to contribute to the general direction of the team, while retaining full responsibility for one’s own interventions.
Able to exercise discretion and tact in dealing with matters of a highly confidential nature.
Good IT skills, and an ability to learn new IT software, to help enhance the quality of POD’s delivery.
Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
An ability to multi-task and manage priorities.
A good team worker with the ability to work effectively with staff at different levels of the organisation.
