Reporting of the Role

This role reports to Senior People Partner

Overview of job
 

As HR Advisor you’ll be responsible for creating a world class experience for our employees at all stages of the employee life cycle, providing timely and credible administrative support and advice in line with policy, process and procedures. You will be the first point of contact for employees and line managers, escalating where necessary to Senior People Partners for more complex cases. You will look after IR35/contractor compliance and be responsible for general administrative support to the programming & Group functions team.

You will work in partnership with the people team’s specialist functions which include Operations, Engagement, Development, Talent and Resourcing to ensure we deliver against the company’s objectives and people strategy.

Measures of success – 

In the first few months, you would have

  • Got to grips with the wider business structure and have a broad understanding of what each function does. You’ll know who our key stakeholders are and understand the leadership and management structures and ways of working in our business areas.

  • Got to know the wider People & Culture team, understanding our ways of working and how we with engage specialists’ functions to deliver outstanding people initiatives.

  • Gained an understanding of Global’s culture, values and behaviours and be starting to see how we bring them to life at Global through our people.

  • Read and understood all of our people policies and processes, knowing where to go to find answers and when to seek further advice.

  • Started to build a thorough understanding of Workday and know how to run reports, trouble shoot for Managers and carry out basic people business processes.

  • Understood the value consultants/contractors add to Global’s business in line with our responsibility to ensure compliance with IR35 legislation.

Responsibilities of the role

  • Be the first point of escalation for the People Partnering team, providing quality and professional advice to employees and managers on general queries and issues, in line with Global’s people policies, processes and procedures

  • Manage employee relation cases including but not limited to disciplinary, grievance, performance management, absence management and family leave with support from Senior People Partner where required.

  • Coach line managers to hold (and facilitate where necessary) probation meetings, addressing any performance concerns promptly

  • Responsible for Global’s adherence to IR35 compliance, working with Managers and other stakeholders to educate, inform and execute proper process.

  • Maintaining electronic records relating to IR35/contractor compliance in a format suitable for HMRC audits.

  • Responsible for managing the on-boarding process for new joiners and providing continuous feedback to enhance the employee on-boarding experience

  • Manage internal mobility for all applicable employees in your business population and partner with the Talent Acquisition team to facilitate the process from offer stage to on-boarding 

  • Work with the Operations team to update policies, templates and toolkits to support People processes e.g. promotions, salary review, bonuses, redundancy etc.

  • Support local processes at employee level as per the People team calendar e.g. annual performance review process, career development plans, salary review etc

  • Lead on analysing and reporting MI data, to provide insights and recommendations on improving processes, structures and how we can continue to improve our overall employee experience

  • Manage the off-boarding experience, providing data-driven insight in to leaving trends and suggesting recommendations to retain our top talent

  • Keep abreast of employment law and legislation changes and inform/update the wider partnering team 

  • Contribute to local People projects and initiatives across various People and Business functions e.g. Compensation & Benefits, Learning & Development etc


What you will need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following: 
 

People experience: A proven HR professional with strength in talent employee relations, workforce planning, employee lifecycle, talent identification and development, culture and succession planning

Organisational & administrative ability: Demonstrable experience of managing and maintaining electronic data, reporting and evaluative skills

Business acumen and commerciality: Proven ability to understand overall business objectives and work within a commercial, growth-focused business. Will have a track record of bringing an ROI-led approach to delivering against HR strategies

Delivery excellence: The ability to implement at pace with a track record for effective delivery. Ability to manage change and spot opportunities to minimise complexity. Focus on continuous improvement and efficiencies

People management: Have solid HR background in a fast-paced environment. The ability to develop effective working relationships, with the ability to influence and motivate others 

Communication: Strong communicator with a logical, structured, clear, credible and mature style. Capable of quickly engaging audiences of all levels. 

Analytical and data-driven approach: Will have analytical capability, experience of managing and analysing HR metrics to find root causes and develop solutions.
